Unleashing Potential at the F1 In Schools Ireland National Final

The University of Limerick's Kemmy Business School is buzzing with anticipation as it prepares to host the prestigious F1 In Schools Ireland National Final. This event is more than just a race; it's a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the brilliant minds of students dedicated to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

F1 in Schools isn’t just another educational program - it's a breeding ground for future leaders in engineering, design, and beyond. By challenging students to design and race miniature Formula 1 cars, the programme introduces STEM subjects in an exhilarating and practical context that has proven to enhance student engagement and interest in technical careers. This dynamic approach is paying off, as seen by the increasing number of students pursuing careers in engineering, directly influenced by their experiences in the programme.

The event highlights the essential role of STEM education in developing skilled professionals ready to lead in various high-demand fields. Through the support of the Formula 1 community, including notable figures like Stefano Domenicali (CEO of Formula One Group) and participation from F1 teams, students gain unprecedented access to the pinnacle of motorsport engineering and marketing expertise, enriching their learning experience and broadening their career horizons.

As F1 in Schools continues to expand globally, its impact grows, reaching students in over 60 countries and maintaining a strong commitment to changing perceptions about STEM careers. With a remarkable 35% female participation rate and support from ten Formula 1 teams, F1 in Schools stands as the largest and most successful school-based STEM program worldwide.

This year's national final at the University of Limerick is set to be a showcase of determination, skill, and the unbridled joy of innovation. The event promises to be a launchpad for the next generation of engineers, scientists, and business leaders, ready to take on the world’s challenges. With each mini car that rockets down the 24-meter track in times as fast as 0.916 seconds, these young innovators are not just racing; they are forging the future of STEM, demonstrating the vast potential and exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
